- General
promotion of architecture/architects through community involvement
and awareness programs. The Chapter works constantly
and openly to promote architects as problem solvers and
to secure seats on decision and policy making boards. Demonstrated
series and forums known as design charrettes have further
promoted architects in planning environments. Currently
architects sit on the Southwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning
Commission and the Downtown Plan Advisory Board as well
as many neighborhood and municipal planning commissions
and boards. AIA Pittsburgh will continue to promote architects
through increased public awareness of their talents and
expertise and ability. Moreover, AIA Pittsburgh acts as
a local resource for any architecturally related question,
often calling upon its members to fill speaking opportunities
or to provide specific expertise to the local media.
