Pittsburgh’s Young Architect’s Forum
The Young Architect’s Forum (YAF) is a committee of
the Pittsburgh chapter of the AIA, devoted solely to the concerns
and interests of intern architects and recently registered
professionals. We are a group of young professionals interested
in augmenting our careers by continuing education in the architectural
field through activities such as conducting seminars, visiting
construction sites, attending professional group events and
touring building product manufacturing facilities. The planning
of these activities is generally organized and implemented
by a core of directors, which ranges from five to seven persons
with two additional people sharing the chair position. There
are over 160 young professionals that we currently contact
through an email database, in addition to students at local
schools of architecture. A committee of 10-12 members meets
monthly to plan educational opportunities, building tours,
and networking social events geared toward young professionals.
YAF’s Mission
The group’s mission statement is to support and encourage
young professionals in the field of architecture in obtaining
their license, becoming more involved with career development
opportunities, and engaging allied professionals through
collaboration. We continuously seek out new and fresh ideas
and the energy and resources to implement them, and have fun
doing it.
